Important Information for your Install Environment

LGI RPA interacts with the screens of an application just like a user would. In order for LGI RPA to interact with most (but not all) types of screens, the PC must be logged in and screen savers must be disabled – just as if a user were typing into these screens. Using Virtual Machines is a proven deployment approach that password protects access to the environment, while providing an interactive and logged in desktop.

Microsoft Remote Desktop

Microsoft Remote Desktop allows accessing a remote PC as if it were your own – and allows the use of the LGI RPA instance on that PC. Note that if you close the Remote session, that “desktop” on the remote pc is also logged off. This means that automations against many types of screens will not be able to run – unless that “desktop” is logged back in. Use the RDPExit functionality.

Install

You must uninstall (Boston WorkStation or Boston WorkStation 20, or LGI RPA) first, the Setup.exe will block installing over existing software.

Download LGI RPA from our website's Customer Center.

You must have local Administrative privileges on the machine in order to install LGI RPA.

Once installed, LGI RPA needs to be licensed before use. Licensing

Uninstall

The uninstall does not deactivate the license. If the reason for uninstalling is to decommission a machine use Start-> LGI RPA Utilities -> Deactivate License before uninstalling.

To uninstall use Add/Remove programs and select LGI RPA. Note that there will be a second UAC prompt during the uninstall process.

The uninstall does not remove C:\ProgramData\LGI_RPA.
